Piero Lissoni: Link
Designed for Olivari in 2006, Link approaches the lever through restrained geometry. Its measured appearance invites closer consideration of the contact surface and the scale of the grip. Several configurations share the collection name. Authorship of the original handle should not automatically be extended to every latch or component called Link; the exact product code and door compatibility remain essential when selecting coordinated hardware.

02 / Biography
Piero Lissoni
Piero Lissoni founded Lissoni Associati with Nicoletta Canesi in Milan in 1986. The practice works across architecture, interiors, products and visual communication. This connection between scales offers a useful way to understand a small object such as a door handle: the proportion of a detail contributes to the experience of an entire room. Our selection draws on projects documented by the studio and Olivari.
Our reading
Detail connects the room
Our interpretation uses generous space, mineral tones and a calm typographic hierarchy to keep the objects legible. It is an editorial response rather than a design by the practice. Within an interior, consider Link across a sequence of doorways: consistent mounting heights, repetition and the relationship between finishes can shape the overall composition. Comparing the same lever on different door materials is more useful than viewing it in isolation.

Reading Piero Lissoni in your project
Editorial perspective
A restrained detail still deserves close attention. Read Link from three distances: when entering the room, approaching the door and placing a hand on the lever. At a distance, the relationship to the door leaf matters; closer inspection reveals junctions; use brings the grip into focus. This exercise connects the overall appearance of an interior with its everyday experience.
For a project with several doors, prepare a simple hardware schedule. Record the model, finish, lock function and quantity for each opening. Keep visual coordination separate from component selection: a consistent appearance may require different articles for a bathroom, bedroom, window or entrance. Check the code each time rather than assuming compatibility from similar photographs or a shared collection name.
To compare other approaches to reduction, visit Enzo Mari and Javier López. The line of Stilo and the planes of Lotus offer points of comparison with Link. This is an editorial reading path that helps distinguish formal preferences before technical selection. None of the three models should be treated as an automatic replacement for another on an existing door.
From a designer’s name to the right handle
Start with the door rather than a finish swatch. Note whether you are specifying an internal hinged door, a window or a lift-and-slide opening. A lever, a DK window handle and a pull handle perform different jobs. A shared collection name helps coordinate appearance, but does not make these mechanisms interchangeable.
- Choose the product. Open a card above and confirm the intended use, rose shape and version. Check the technical drawing against the existing preparation or the door supplier’s specification.
- Check the configuration. Identify the lock or privacy function, spindle, fixing method and any relevant door thickness. Confirm what the selected pack includes; a half set and a pair are different quantities.
- Compare the finish. Consider touch points elsewhere in the room, lighting and cleaning requirements. Photographs are a useful introduction; the named finish code is the reference for an order.
- Prepare the quantities. Count door sets, window handles and accessories separately. Record the product link, finish code and required quantity for each room before asking for a quotation.
If you are unsure, send the product links and clear photographs of the door and existing hardware through our contact page. Tell us what you want to replace. Technical compatibility needs to be checked for the specific configuration; a designer’s signature alone does not establish suitability.
