01 / Olivari
Javier López: Lotus
Designed for Olivari in 2014, Lotus and Lotus Q explore reduction and the relationship between horizontal planes. The rose geometry is one of the differences between the two versions. Compare the complete assembly on a door: a front photograph alone cannot explain projection, contact with the hand or the transition into the neck. The individual product sheet helps turn a visual preference into a workable specification.

02 / Biography
Javier López
Javier López was born in Madrid in 1978. After studying interior architecture and industrial design, he moved to Milan and opened his own studio in 2011. His work spans architecture and products. The Olivari and Agape sources connect this biography specifically with Lotus handles and Plus storage, keeping it distinct from the careers of other designers with similar names.
Our reading
Remove to clarify
Horizontal divisions, pale surfaces and a green accent give this page an editorial interpretation of economy of means. The layout is by Virgin Architects. Three documented projects keep the selection focused without inventing a longer list of works or awards. Olivari describes a Compasso d’Oro ADI 2014 nomination for Plus; this is not presented as winning the award.
03 / Selected works
3 projects to understand the approach
Lotus · Olivari · 2014
A round rose connects a slender gripping plane with a circular support.
Lotus Q · Olivari · 2014
A square rose changes the junction with the door surface within the same formal research.
Plus · Agape · 2012
A storage family uses a thick front as a grip and towel support; individual variants can carry later dates.
Reading Javier López in your project
Editorial perspective
To read Lotus and Lotus Q, begin with the side profile and then look at the front view. Lever planes and rose geometry create different relationships with the door surface. A choice based only on colour can conceal these distinctions. Comparing views and technical drawings connects the appearance of the product with its actual position in space.
Plus provides another point of reference: the grip is integrated into the storage front. Our editorial reading uses this comparison to look for an action within a form, without adding unnecessary visual signs. It does not suggest that furniture and door hardware share the same technical requirements. Instead, it separates a formal idea from the checks required for a specific door or window article.
Continue the comparison with Luca Casini and Piero Lissoni. Planet Q and Link reveal other relationships between lever, support and door leaf. Once you have defined a preference, return to Lotus or Lotus Q, select the version and record the finish and quantity. If replacing existing hardware, add photographs and measurements of the current preparation before asking for assistance.
From a designer’s name to the right handle
Start with the door rather than a finish swatch. Note whether you are specifying an internal hinged door, a window or a lift-and-slide opening. A lever, a DK window handle and a pull handle perform different jobs. A shared collection name helps coordinate appearance, but does not make these mechanisms interchangeable.
- Choose the product. Open a card above and confirm the intended use, rose shape and version. Check the technical drawing against the existing preparation or the door supplier’s specification.
- Check the configuration. Identify the lock or privacy function, spindle, fixing method and any relevant door thickness. Confirm what the selected pack includes; a half set and a pair are different quantities.
- Compare the finish. Consider touch points elsewhere in the room, lighting and cleaning requirements. Photographs are a useful introduction; the named finish code is the reference for an order.
- Prepare the quantities. Count door sets, window handles and accessories separately. Record the product link, finish code and required quantity for each room before asking for a quotation.
If you are unsure, send the product links and clear photographs of the door and existing hardware through our contact page. Tell us what you want to replace. Technical compatibility needs to be checked for the specific configuration; a designer’s signature alone does not establish suitability.
