01 / Biography

Davide Vercelli

Davide Vercelli established his studio in 2005 after research at the Polytechnic University of Turin. His practice brings together products, communication and exhibition design. His work for FIMA investigates how we use water: the control becomes an interface understood through the fingers as much as through the eye.

Our perspective

Gesture as a design measure

Compare the movement each control asks for: sliding, adjusting separately or rotating. The difference goes beyond appearance. When selecting a tap, consider a wet-handed grip, the distance to the basin and the space needed to operate the control. This is Virgin Architects’ design perspective, to be considered alongside the technical data for the selected configuration.
